I would like to get suggestions and comments on possibility of development of Applications Services Provider model business in Armenia.
The idea of Application Service Provider business model is basic elimination of locally installed software and data storage on user computers. All transactions and data storage is done on remote servers located at ASPs facilities to which customers login through Internet using SSL. All customers need on their local workstations is a Java enabled browser. This model will provide opportunity to introduce Point of Sale terminals in Armenian retail shops and businesses for as low as $100 per connection (including hardwatre) and has huge economic prospects both within and outside the country.
A good example of this business model is salesforce.com. They provide Customer Relationship Management (CRM) service through Internet. I think this model is a perfect fit for an opensource project. Please contact me at kmelikya@hotmail.com if you are interested.
