The core of the Open ASP projects is the felixible tool for creation of customer information databases and surveys.

At the fist stage we have localized the phpESP (http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpesp/) based on PHP scripts to let non-technical users create surveys, administer surveys, gather results, view statistics. All parts are managed online after database initialization. Using the tool practically any business will be able to develop a rudimentary CRM capabilities like: Databases of current and potential customers and their major preferences.

The demo of the phpESP is deployed at the (http://phpesp.sourceforge.net/).

After development and implementation of this part other capabilities like:

• Statistical data analysis and data mining tools
• Graphical data representation capabilities, will be added to the system
• Improve capabilities to maintain large amounts of customer data,.

Some examples of future development tasks:

• Develop a module for performing different types of regression analysis
• Develop a module for flexible creation and manipulation of scatter plots and pivot tables
• Develop a module for time series analysis and forecasting (moving averages, exponential smoothing etc.

The Open ASP team will be posting here development tasks and specifications for the project once every two/three weeks.

With sample: Data Set, Frequency Table, and Histogram.

The current part of the project was developed using PHP and mySQL, in the future we are planning to use more advanced development tools.

Sample skillset for an OpenASP developer by Areg:

Apache 1.3.x or higher, PHP 4.0 or higher, HTML/JavaScript General knowleges of Java, Java Applets, J2EE/Web applications, JSP.. General knowledge of RDBMS, mySQL, SQL...

Of course, once the project develops ("takes off" as we like to say) best volunter software developers may be offered an employment with one of potential clients or within the project itself.
